Due to overwhelming requests from parents of students who attend Baverstock Oaks School, the management tried to source out Baverstock Oaks school uniforms.  Initial samples wasn't acceptable so the management tried to source out the school uniforms from a different manufacturer.  When the management request for a second meeting we were told that the school is satisfied with the current supplier.

Requests from parents still continues so, the management thought of selling the polo shirts without logo and contracted an embroidery shop to sew the logo for us.  Unfortunately, the Principal and BoT again didn't like this arrangement and suggested legal actions should we continue.

So with this, apologies to the community.  The management tried to work with your Principal and BoT and wish only to make a difference to the way the schools operate in New Zealand with regards to school uniforms.

School uniforms policy can help in a lot of ways when implemented for the right reasons.  The Citizens Advice Bureau website in the UK has a very good information on Education and School Uniforms. 

I know a lot of parents wanted to voice out their concerns but are afraid that their children will get picked on because of this.  This is where our Commerce Commission should step in.  The Office of Fair Trading in the UK already put their foot forward to put an end to exclusive school uniforms retail arrangement.

I am also a parent and I think all of us parents should work together to voice out our opinion in this matter.  Why should state schools enter into an exclusive school uniforms retail agreement?  Should state schools operate to profit or should state schools operate to make sure that children’s experience at school helps their success in adult life.  If you wish to contribute, email me meann@pangbata.com with your thoughts on this and I will compile all the responses and forward them to Commerce Commission.  This could of course be done anonymously.  Please forward this link to your families and friends who would benefit from such act.
